Project | The Semiotic Construction of a Wine Label
For this project, a classmate and I analyzed the word usage on a wine label, specifically looking at warnings and instructions. We looked at the Surgeon General’s warning, the section describing foods that are good paired with the wine, the font, and font size used for the name of the wine.
The audience for our project is anyone who is interested in the rhetorical impact of different elements of a label. The audience for the wine label is wine drinkers. Each warning's font is easy to read and usually colored red to grab the audience's attention and allow them to easily read it.
The takeaway from this project was: Be careful selecting fonts and visual language for an audience. These must be taken into account when thinking of those who will buy or use your product.
Project | Usability Testing & Design
For this project, I worked with a team to analyze the Sille Educational Consulting website, in order to test it for usability issues. We developed and piloted a test based on our initial evaluation of the site, and tested several students and staff to confirm the issues identified in the evaluation. We compiled the data and used it to create a report for the site’s owner.
Our audience was the owner of LLC, who knew very little about usability but wanted his website to be frustration free for his customers. Our report recommended fixes to broken links and reduction in content that wasn't relevant to his business.

Design Projects
I chose both of these design projects in order to show my range of creativity. Both of these projects show my ability to adapt to the needs of a projected audience and allow my purpose to be expressed through visuals and text. Both projects were made to look professional, highly usable, and showcase my design skills.
