Project | Exploring Gender Bias in Social Media

For this project, my partner and I wanted to see if existing research showed a difference in usage of social media between males and females. There wasn't a lot of research on our topic, but we were able to find meaningful articles exploring social media and usage between the genders.
The three theory projects I’ve included show my skills in analysis, research, and assessment. The research methodology ("Exploring Gender Bias in Social Media") paper looks at a research topic and examines existing research on that topic. My composition theory paper ("Voice in Writing Again") is another example of strong analysis. Finally, the research proposal shows good examples of locating scholarly research and citing it accurately.

This presentation looks at the article "Reconsiderations: Voice In Writing Again--Embracing Contraries." by Peter Elbow. It mainly discusses how "voice" was once a heavily argued concept and now it seems to have fallen out of use.

Project | Research Proposal: Improving Engagement and Retention at University Orientation

This research proposal describes a protocol I developed for gathering data about and improving the retention rate of UA Little Rock students at new student orientation. The protocol includes focus groups and surveys aimed at all student populations at UA Little Rock. The proposal seeks to use the data from these instruments to figure out the needs of students and to suggest changes to future student orientations.
